New Construction Installation
-
1. Measurement
Since each window is custom manufactured for the specific opening, the crucial first step is to precisely measure the opening into which the new construction window will be installed. A window is then ordered to exact specification, allowing for clearances recommended by the manufacturer and mandated by building codes.

2. Opening Preparation

3. Flashing
In order to restore the integrity of the moisture barrier, new flashing paper is installed to local building code specifications.
-
4. Precaulk
A liberal and continuous bead of elastomeric sealant is applied either on the nail fin or on the mounting surface around the entire perimeter.
-
5. Installation
The window is installed and shimmed. A level is used to ensure that the window is level, plumb, and square. Once proper adjustments have been made, the window is anchored with corrosion-resistant screws or nails at predetermined locations along the nail fin. The window is then checked for smooth operation and locking.
-
6. Flashing
A second layer of flashing is installed over the nail fin.
-
7. Exterior Finish
On a stucco house, the stucco is either patched or a wood frame is installed around the window. On a house with siding, a wood frame is installed around window up to the existing siding. The entire perimeter of the window and trim is weather sealed using elastomeric caulk.
Optional: Optional jamb and casing is installed for an enhanced, custom look.
-
8. Interior Caulk
To create a uniform look, the perimeter of the inside of the window is caulked.
-
9. Cleanup
All window stickers and decals are removed, windows are cleaned, and work area is vacuumed.
